Walt Garrison, a former Dallas Cowboys running back who also competed in rodeos, has passed away at the age of 79. Garrison played nine years in Dallas and retired as the No. 3 rusher and No. 4 receiver in franchise history. He was known for his rodeo career, which he considered his first love, and would compete in local rodeos during his rookie season. However, the Cowboys soon prohibited him from participating in rodeos during the season. Garrison tore his knee while steer wrestling in 1975, forcing him to retire from the NFL at the age of 30.
