The Houston Texans have claimed defensive end Derek Barnett from waivers after he was waived by the Philadelphia Eagles. Barnett was selected by the Eagles in the first round of the 2017 draft and has accumulated 21.5 sacks, 76 quarterback hits, and 37 tackles for loss in his seven seasons with the team. His best season was in 2019 when he registered 6.5 sacks and 22 quarterback hits. Barnett suffered a season-ending torn ACL in Week 1 of the 2022 season and has only three tackles and zero sacks this season, playing in only 20% of Philadelphia's defensive snaps. He will join a Texans defensive line led by Jonathan Greenard and Will Anderson.
