Saquon Barkley of the New York Giants will not be playing in Thursday's game against San Francisco due to an ankle injury. Barkley sprained his right ankle in the previous game and has been listed as a non-participant in practice. The Giants have decided to hold him out, likely because of the short turnaround between games. Barkley will have more than two weeks to recover before the next game on October 2nd. In the meantime, Matt Breida is expected to lead the Giants backfield.
