Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett will undergo ankle surgery but is not expected to be placed on injured reserve (IR). Pickett suffered a right ankle injury during Sunday's game and is expected to miss extended time. The Steelers are leaving a window open for him to return earlier than Week 18 by not placing him on IR. It is unlikely that Pickett will play in Thursday's matchup against the Patriots, and Mitch Trubisky will start in his absence.
